Betty Gay Johnson March 20, 1952- June 3, 2024
KINGSPORT - Betty Gay Johnson of Kingsport passed away at her home on June 3, 2024, at the age of 72. She was born on March 20, 1952, to the late Joe and Edna Johnson, and was the youngest of their six children. Betty loved to sew and was a gifted seamstress. She also loved to cook and enjoyed trying new recipes. Betty passed down her cooking and sewing skills by teaching lessons to her great nieces while they were teenagers. She was an avid antique enthusiast and had quite the collection. Betty loved her family and friends deeply and will be greatly missed by all who were privileged to know her.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Edna Johnson; brother Fred Johnson; sister Doris Duncan; brother-in-law David Gardner; sister-in-law Eileen Johnson; nephews Curtis Southard, Augie Johnson, and Andy Duncan; niece Pamela Haynes.
She is survived by brothers Frog Johnson and Don Johnson (Brenda); sister Barbara Gardner; nephews Mousey Johnson, Charlie Southard, Junior Johnson, and Michael Johnson; nieces Doris Fields, Lora Southerland, and Debbie Jones. Betty is also survived by numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

Growing up, Betty was my Godmother, and my mothers best friend. she was always a part of my early life. Sending prayers for her family and loved ones. She was an absolutely wonderful person!
