KINGSPORT - Betty Louise Malone Lane, age 87 of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 8, 2025. Betty was born on December 30, 1937, in Greene County, TN to Lectie Ethel Malone. Betty married her most cherished friend and love of her life, Virgil Lane, and after 58 years of a beautiful life together, he preceded her in death on June 11, 2015.
Betty enjoyed playing cards, gardening, camping, photography, and going to garage sales. However, her most favorite thing to do was keeping her grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her mother; her devoted husband, Virgil Lane; two brothers, Bobby Jones, and Grover Jones; maternal grandparents, Andy Bowman and Lydia Bell Bailey Malone; and two sisters-in-law, Ellen Dillard, and Goldie Booker. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tammie Mellessia Lane Presley and husband, Rick; grandchildren, Tia Peace and husband, Jonathan, Bryson Lane Presley, and Brogan Rick Presley; two great grandchildren, Ellie Layne Peace, and Levi Virgil Presley; brother-in-law, Gene Forbes and wife, Patty; and many loving nieces, nephews, family members and special friends.
The family will receive friends at Carter-Trent Funeral Home Kingsport on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm with Pastor Preston Patrick officiating. A graveside service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Betty's family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home Kingsport is serving the Lane family.
