KNOXVILLE - Betty Sue Thomas, 79, of Knoxville, TN and formerly of Jonesville, VA, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Park West Medical Center in Knoxville.
She was born on December 27, 1944 in Jonesville, VA to the late Alonzo Blanken and Dora Tomlinson McConnell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Blanken, and by a sister, Mary Smith.
Betty was a loving and caring person who was devoted to her family.
Betty is survived by her two sons, Robbie Thomas and wife, Tracy, of Knoxville, and Steven Thomas and his companion, Robin Spears, of Rogersville, TN; three grandchildren, Austin Thomas, Peyton Thomas and Kayley Franklin and husband, Cody; two great-grandchildren, Leah and Aaron Franklin; brother, Donnie Blanken, of Jonesville; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, at Robinette Funeral Home in Jonesville. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Buster Mullins officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 11, in the Slemp Cemetery, located on Mill Hollow Road in Jonesville. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery for graveside services.
