Billie Franklin Allen (Bill), 82, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.
Bill was born in Jonesville, Virginia, on November 25, 1940. He was raised in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force at Antigo Radar Base, from 1964-1968, where he met his wife, Judy.
Bill worked for Oakwood Markets as a store manager for approximately thirty years, mostly at the Colonial Heights location. After retirement, he worked part-time for several years at Food City. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing with his buddies.
Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy Allen; sister Sandra Rich (Bill); and several nieces and nephews that he enjoyed spoiling.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Geneva Allen; sister Barbara Hughes (Bill); grandparents Henry and Flossie Goins, Odie, and Maude Allen.
The family of Bill Allen will receive friends from 10 am to 11 am on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Living Word Lutheran Church, in Johnson City. The funeral service will follow at 11 am with Pastor Andrew Stuebs officiating. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 2:00 pm at Miller's Chapel Cemetery in Jonesville, Virginia. Family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 pm.
