ATLANTA, GA - Billy Joe Bernard, beloved father, partner, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, at the age of 68 in Atlanta, GA.

Born on April 24,1957, in Kingsport, TN, Bill lived a life marked by enjoying each moment to the fullest. He was known for his kind heart, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and he touched the lives of many through his years of travel for work. He would give you his last $20.00 and often did.

Bill worked as a Crane Operator for 47 years and took great pride in his work. His last assignment was Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga. Outside of his career, he enjoyed grilling, hanging out with friends and family, listening to classic rock and anything in the great outdoors.

He is survived by his fiancé and long-term companion Chris Picciano, Mother, Iva Nell Bernard, Brother Tommy Bernard (wife Donna). Mothers of his children, Lori Mack and Jeannie Bernard (separated wife). Children, Rusty Bernard, Korie Bernard, Chelsea Hammonds, Jackie Bernard, Bryan Bernard, and Becky Bernard. Grandchildren, Kysa Bernard, Ayla Bernard, Zoey Barnett, Elijah Hammond. All will cherish his memory and carry on his legacy of living life to the fullest.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Worley Ray Bernard, and close friends, Dylan Benton, Mike Crawford, and Pat McKenzie.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held on October 11, 2025, from 1 to 4 pm. at Eastman Cabin shelter #39 in the Bays Mountain area. Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate Billy's life. Come as you are. Bill loved his blue jeans and Hawaiian shirts. Bring your own favorite drink, your favorite memories of Bill and any photos you would like to share.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The care of Billy Joe Bernard and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.
