KINGSPORT - Billy Mack Wilson, 69, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 23, 2023, at his residence.
He was born April 27, 1954, in Kingsport, to the late Otney and Juanita Light Wilson.
Billy was a loving and devoted husband who enjoyed spending quality time with his wife, Kathy.
He had a jolly personality and a contagious laugh.
Billy was proud that he authored a book about his grandfather, Rev. Loyd Light entitled, "The Wayfarin Stranger."
He was a committed Christian and member of Sullivan Baptist Church.
Billy graduated from Sullivan West High School and Northeast State Community College.
He worked as an electrician through IBEW and worked at TN Telemarketing Inc. Billy retired from Kingsport City Schools.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his in-laws, Marshall and Phyllis Winstead; brother-in-law, David Cowden.
Those left to cherish Billy's memory are his loving wife of thirty-six years, Kathy Winstead Wilson; sisters, Sue Watts (Larry), Ruth Wilson, and Lori Cowden; brothers, Jeff Wilson (Vicki), and Tim Wilson (Barb); brother-in-law, David Winstead (Connie); nieces and nephews, Emily, Caitlin, Seth, Daniel, and Zac.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 28, 2023, 1:00-2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
The Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Strong officiating.
Graveside Service will follow at 3:00 pm at Eastern Star Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
