Carolyn Sue Carter Bishop, 78, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
Carolyn was born February 8, 1947, in Kingsport, Tennessee to the late Leslie Carter and Hazel Lark Carter.
She enjoyed reading and working in her flower garden.
Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends, and she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a wonderful friend to many.
She retired from the Sullivan County School System.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie L. Bishop; and her brothers and sisters, Tony Carter, Jerry, Carter, and Debbie Clark.
Those left to cherish Carolyn's memory are her children, Sherri Lawson and husband, Mike, of South Carolina, Ricky Bishop and wife, Cindy of Bristol, VA, and Jeff Bishop and wife, April of Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Madeline, Marley, Nate, and Wrett; brothers, Wayne Carter and wife, Jennifer, David Carter, and Ronnie Carter and wife, Sue; sister, Jean Kaylor; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Monday, September 8, 2025, in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home.
A Graveside Service will follow at 1:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of Meditation with Rev. Marvin Egan officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Preston Place II and the staff of Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care of Carolyn.
