SUGAR LAND, TX/BIG STONE GAP, VA - Carolyn Clark Galloway, 76, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023, at Brookdale Senior Living, Sugar Land, Tx.
She was born in Appalachia, Va. and had resided in Texas for over 50 years. She was a retired operations manager for FEDEX in Texas. She was a Christian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Denver Herman Clark and Ruby Nell (Johnson) Clark; and brothers, Dillard Clark and James Allen Morris.
Surviving are her son, Jeffrey Glenn Galloway; grandson, Benjamin Glenn Galloway, who she raised like her own son; brother, Worley Gordon, a foster brother; nieces, Dagney Clark Gray and Violet Gray; nephews, Justin Morris and James Morris, II; and first cousins, Judy Love and Joseph Porter; and her husband of many years, Dr. Jimmie Glenn Galloway, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 12:00am – 1:30pm Thursday, Apr. 13, 2023, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Avenue, E., Big Stone Gap, Va.
An entombment service will follow at 2:00pm in the Glencoe Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with Lowell "Cotton" Gardner officiating.

Dear Galloway Family
Carolyn and I met when we both started working as long distance telephone operators in Charlottesville in the mid 60's. Continued our friendship over the years with her moves to NY, WA, and then Texas and my later move to AR, It was our delight to learn that Carolyn lived in the same subdivision as my 2nd husbands lifelong friend! Although we had not kept in touch for a few years, I still often thought of her and our times together. Carolyn....my heart misses you and look forward to our "meeting in the air"...
