KINGSPORT - Carolyn S. Sams, age 75, of Kingsport, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 10, 2023, at St. Thomas Hospital West from a lengthy battle with heart disease.
She was a member of West View Baptist Church for over 50 years. Carolyn was a devoted and selfless wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who always put her family's needs above her own.
Carolyn married the love of her life, Fred Sams, Jr. on August 21, 1971, together they enjoyed 52 years of love and happiness.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Sam and Audra Hann, brother: David L. Hann, sister-in-law: Martha Hann and nieces: Michele Sams Wagers.
She is survived by her loving husband, Fred; children: Norma J. Henderson of Kingsport, Sheila (Edward) Kilgore of Kingsport. Brother: Paul E. Hann of Raleigh, NC.
Niece: Melissa Hann of Raleigh, NC. The light of her life: Granddaughters: Whitney (Clay) McNabb of Erwin, Tn., Sydney Carrier of Kingsport and her fiancé Jordan Reece and Great- Grandchildren: Brady, Anna and Ellie McNabb of Erwin, Tn. Brother and Sister-in-laws: Ron and Betty Sams and Charles and Joyce Sams. Niece: Susan Sams of Gray, Tn and nephew: Ronnie Sams of Johnson City, TN
A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, November 16, from 5-7pm at East Lawn Funeral Home, funeral service to follow in the chapel with Pastor Mike Stout officiating.
Family and friends will gather on Friday, November 17 at 3pm at East Lawn Memorial Park for graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to: West View Baptist Church 1037 Fairview Avenue, Kingsport, Tn. 37660.
