KINGSPORT - Carter "Chad" Self, 69, of Kingsport, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Johnson City Medical Center.
He was born July 28, 1954, in Wise, VA to the late Carter and Justine "Dub" Salyers Self.
Chad was a loving, caring, and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
He retired from Eastman Chemical Company as a mechanic following twenty-seven years of service. Following retirement, he enjoyed woodworking.
Chad had coached football, basketball, and baseball for several years.
He was a 1972 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School.
In addition to his parents, Chad was preceded in death by his daughter, Shanna Renee Self; son, Daniel Self; brother-in-law, Bill Shumate.
Those left to cherish Chad's memory are his loving wife, Patti A. Self; son, Bryan Self; granddaughter, Kenzie Self; sister, Patty Ballard; mother-in-law, Jewell Shumate.
The family will receive friends Monday, September 25, 2023, from 11:00 am-12:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 12:00 pm with Alan Pairgin officiating.
Entombment Service will follow at 1:00 pm in Mausoleum IV at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
