Charlene Clark Obituary
January 22, 2025
KINGSPORT - Charlene Clark, 89, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, late Wednesday evening. Born and raised in the Vermont community of Bloomingdale, she was a lifelong member of Vermont United Methodist Church. Charlene graduated from Lynn View High School, class of 1953. The greatest joy in her life was taking care of those that she loved. In her later years, she became a huge Atlanta Braves fan. Charlene also loved watching the Lady Vols. She was a clerk at Grosset & Dunlap for several years until her children were born.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, C.H. and Laura Jane Thompson; husband, Clarence "Pete" Clark; brothers, Donald, Sam (Shirley), Wayne (Ann), and Lowell Thompson; and sister, Kathrine Price (Richard); and nephew, Jon Thompson.
Survivors include her children, Laura Smith (Wendell) and Bryan Clark; grandchildren, Madison Hart (Hunter), MaKenna Anderson (Browden) and Ashby McKinney; great-grandchildren, Nora, Carson, and Ruby Hart; sister, Janice Barrett (Bud); sister-in-law, Nancy Thompson; nieces, Joy Price, Libby Korpal, and Kristen Harris (Steve); nephews, Allen Thompson (Deborah), Chad Thompson (Elizabeth), Donnie Thompson (Janice), David Thompson (Connie), Tony Barrett (Katie), Graham Clark (Cathy), Shelton Clark (Vickie), Wendell Clark and Steve Thompson; other Thompson Street family members, Betty Botts, Todd, Tina, and Abbie Merker, Jim and Bernice Dixon, Billy and Steve Dixon and Michael Ford and Nancy Smith; and several great nieces and great nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 26, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Vermont United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Kim Isley-Selby officiating.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vermont United Methodist Church, 1817 Bloomingdale Rd., Kingsport, TN 37660.

Dearest Miss Charlene, in my over 50 years attending Vermont United Methodist Church & its many activities, it has always been such a joy to see you there. You were always so sweet and gracious, and a delight to see your friendly smile and kind, loving ways.
