Charles "Bud" Fugate August 23, 1935- September 24, 2024
Charles "Bud" Fugate, age 89, drew his last breath on Tuesday, September 24th. His family affectionately called him "papaw" and we dearly loved him.
Papaw enjoyed watching Judge Judy, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, football and Nascar. He also enjoyed working in the yard and growing knock-out roses. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was employed at Holston Defense for over 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; his parents, Boyd and Mattie Fugate; brother Tommy Fugate; sisters, Kay Hammond, Ruby Calhoun, and Dorothy Lyon.
Bud is survived by his son, Mark Manis; daughters, Lisa (Gabe) Ward and Karen (Terry) Taylor; Sons, Tony (Carolyn), Tim (Diane) and Tracy (Rhonda) Fugate; brother, Carl (Peggy) Fugate; sisters, Faye Nuckles and Betty Mae Williams; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren; as well as Several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Johnson Arrowood Funeral Home on Saturday, September 28thfrom 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Service at 12:00 p.m. with Paul Bachman officiating. Burial will follow in procession to McPheeters Bend Cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 Pallbearers will be Jarrod, Cory, Josh, Malaki, Zayne, Nathan. Honorary pallbearer Jeremy.
