KINGSPORT - Charles Dewayne Roberts, age 73 of Kingsport, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 21, 2024. Charles was born on May 1, 1951, in Kingsport, TN to Hagan Paul Roberts Sr. and Lucy Bledsoe Roberts. Charles worked for 30 years at JP Stevens Cotton Mill and then he went to work for the Kingsport School System for 15 plus years. Charles was a dedicated worker throughout his life, and he was a great role model for his son.
Charles loved the Smoky Mountains. Being outdoors and enjoying nature is where he found his peace.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; and his younger brother, Donald Roberts. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Jeff Roberts and wife Brandy; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Roberts, and Halie Robert; great-grandson, Bradley Roberts; sister, Phyllis Light and husband Sam; brother, Hagan Roberts Jr.; and nephew, Hagan Roberts III.
The family would like to give a special "Thank You" to the staff at Smoky Mountain Hospice in Kingsport.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Carter Trent Funeral Home Kingsport. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Washington County Memory Gardens with Chaplain Mike Driver officiating. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 pm.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home Kingsport is serving the Roberts family.

I had the privilege of knowing Charles from Lincoln Elementary. He was always so kind to me and to the kids. Charles was one of a kind. You will be missed, friend.

I worked with Charles at Lincoln Elementary and thought the world of him! He always teased me about being an Alabama fan, but he ended up getting himself a Bama shirt and wearing it on Fridays in the fall. He was a gentleman and will be missed.

We worked together at John Adams elementary. We always enjoyed our jobs , spending time in good conversations. Even though our work was at times difficult, Charles had a good attitude
