Charlotte Keene Obituary

Dr. Charlotte Sue Keene

November 21, 2024

FALL BRANCH - Dr. Charlotte Sue Keene, 75, was born in Macon, GA. She passed away on November 21, 2024, at her home in Fall Branch TN.

Charlotte is survived by her son David (Nika), grandsons Alexander and Nicholas, brother Wayne Keene (Doris), and sister Janice Maddox (Bill), and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Harl and Lois Keene, and brother Larry Keene.

After graduating from the University of Georgia and working as a programmer testing jet engines, Charlotte decided to become a doctor. She was the oldest student in her medical class. She completed her degree in Medicine from the Medical College of the University of Alabama, Birmingham, and her residency in obstetrics and gynecology from University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine, Knoxville, in 1991.

Dr. Keene worked many years with Appalachian Ob/Gyn Associates affiliated with Indian Path Community Hospital in Kingsport. Her most prized accomplishment was the number of children that she brought into the world and the care that she provided their mothers. Despite the long hours required, she was always proud that her medical specialty was primarily involved with bringing new life into the world.

Dr. Keene enjoyed bridge and was active for many years playing competitive contract bridge in the Tri-Cities area. She loved her home with its view of the western side of the Appalachian Mountains and the companionship of her 3 cats. She also appreciated her close relationship with Jenny and Missy.

A private memorial service will be held for her family at a later date.

I thought of Dr. Keene today while talking with a friend. When I googled to find her I found this so sadly. She was an amazing Dr. and felt like a part of our family. God blessed me when she entered our lives. Out of 8 doctors I would request her and be told now when delivery comes you may not get her. I did anyway. And then I birthed three girls over the years she delivered each one with such patience, kindness and almost quietness. She was always so calm I´ll never forget her. I´ll cherish her forever. She also continued into my further care in my 40s and saved me yet again. May her heart rest in peace. You were an amazing woman Dr. Keene. Prayers for the family
