Claude Farmer Obituary

KINGSPORT - Claude J. Farmer, 92, Kingsport, TN was called home on Saturday, January 18, 2025. He was born in Wise, VA and had resided in Kingsport since his youth. Claude was an employee of Holston Valley Medical Center where he was a surgery tech retiring after 44 years of service. Claude was a member of First Community Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bradley and Grace Dean Farmer; wife, Marie Farmer; brothers, Brad, Carl Joe and Charles Farmer; sister, Shirley Dockery; son-in-law Michael Salyer; and sisters-in-law, Clara Bullock and Betty Hagey.
Claude is survived by daughters, Tinia Salyer of Kingsport, Bobbie Hill and husband, John of Elizabethton, and Julie Chappell and husband John of Kingsport; 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Brenda Wilson of Kingsport; brother, Malcolm Shelton of Blountville; and several nieces and nephews; and his special dog, Shakira.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at East Lawn Memorial Park with Malcolm Shelton and Bradley Farmer III officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Claude was one of the kindest, hard working men I have ever known. He would help anyone , never complained or criticized. He was a wonderful tech and was loved and respected by his coworkers.
