MOUNT CARMEL – Curtis Ray Bowlin, 81, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2025, at Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.

Ray was born on January 12, 1944, and was a lifelong resident of Hawkins Co. He attended Church Hill High School where he met his beautiful wife of 57 years, Linda, and he graduated in 1962. Ray was a United States Army Veteran and was stationed in Germany from 1965-1967. He retired from the research dept. at Eastman Chemical Company after 30 years of service. Ray stayed very active and loved hiking, biking and visiting historical sites with his wife. He loved being out in nature and watching all the animals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Dovie Bowlin; 2 brothers, Ron and Cliff Bowlin; his twin sister, Fay Christian; and his nephew, Darren Bowlin.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Linda (Ladd) Bowlin; 3 sisters-in-law, Thelma Bowlin, Reba Mottern, and Mary Ladd; as well as several special nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a great great niece and nephew, and several dear friends.

A graveside prayer will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, May 16, 2025, at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:00 PM and will leave in procession to the cemetery by 1:45 PM. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
