Daniel "Dan" Ross McCarthy December 30, 1941- April 24, 2024
FALL BRANCH - Daniel "Dan" Ross McCarthy, 82, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, in Fall Branch, TN. Born in Rockford, Illinois, Dan was an accomplished electrical engineer in the manufacturing sector and a savvy entrepreneur who owned Commander Boats and Command Technologies, a respected machine shop.
Dan's passions extended beyond his professional life. He was a gifted woodworker, creating many beautiful pieces of custom furniture. An avid golfer, he also took pleasure in landscaping and gardening, often spending tranquil moments on his front porch enjoying the weather. Dan cherished history, particularly documentaries about the Civil War.
Although he was mostly reserved and very stoic, Dan was a loving father and a dedicated husband. Up until recently due to his health, he actively participated in his local Ruritan club, contributing to community initiatives.
Dan was predeceased by his wife, Shirley McCarthy (Liles), and his parents, Robert and Loretta McCarthy (Houghton). He leaves behind a loving family: his daughter, Bonnie White and her husband Brad; his son, Shawn McCarthy and his wife Jenni; his grandchildren, Breanna Smith (Tanner), Taylor White, and Elaina Kapala (Robbie); and his great-grandchildren, Kynlee and Kyler Smith. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Linda Thomas and her husband Larry.
Details of the memorial services will be announced at a later time.
