David Lynn Hunt

February 7, 2026

SURGOINSVILLE - David Lynn Hunt, age 79, of Surgoinsville passed away February 7th at his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Evelyn Hunt, brother Richard Hunt, and son Ken Hunt.

Left to cherish his memories are his partner of 26 years, Rita Greer; son Wayne Hunt; brother and sister-in-law Jack and Brenda Hunt of Kingsport; sister and brother-in-law Peggy and Bobby Rasnick of Christiansburg, VA; grandchildren Kaleigh Cole, Justin and Keagen Hunt, Codey Hunt, Bailey and Terence Webb, and Harlyn Hunt; great-grandchildren Shawn and Riley Cole, Tillie Webb, and Kenlea Hunt; favorite daughter-in-law Jamie Toonies; special friend Wayne Greer; and a host of nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

If you knew David, you knew he was one of a kind. He never met a stranger and always had a quick-witted joke, a funny story to tell, and loved to give a hard time. You could always pull up a chair to sit with him on the porch or to play a game of poker (or Phase 10), but you better have been ready to place a bet, talk some trash, and lose your money to him. He enjoyed his time "piddling" and loafing around in his truck, but more than anything, he loved to be with his family and friends.

Though he will be sorely missed by his friends and family here on Earth, he left us all with a smile on our faces when we think of the times we had with him.

Due to David's wishes, there will be no service.
