GRAYSON, GA - David Wayne Overbay, 67, passed away on May 27th , 2023, at Magnolia Senior Living at Loganville.
David was born on October 25th , 1955, in Kingsport, Tennessee to Bernice Elizabeth Peters (Overbay) and William Alexander Overbay Jr. He graduated from Sullivan West High School in Kingsport, Tennessee in 1973. Directly after high school, He served in the U.S. Air Force until May 1977. David worked very hard for his family. In his words, "I worked my hardest until I could not. My work was a reflection of my love, it was the language to show the ones I love how much I cared for them." Per David's wishes, there won't be a memorial service, instead, he stated that "I wish for my family/friends to remember me like I was before I became ill. I wish for all to love one another like I loved them and better through their actions."
David married Sheila Joyce Conkin Overbay on September 1st, 1991, and they shared 31 years of marriage together. David's best friends included Renae June Overbay Cook, Jan Steadman Gragg, and Carl Bilich - all of whom he valued and wanted to be mentioned.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Elizabeth Peters Overbay, and his father, William Alexander Overbay Jr. David is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Overbay, children Aubrey Braden Gutierrez (Omaha, NE), Courtney Bentley (Irwinton, GA), and Kira Overbay (Grayson, GA), grandchildren Kylie Anne Bentley, Madi Kate Bentley, and Braden Valentino Gutierrez, sister Renae Overbay Cook (Kingsport, TN), nieces Elizabeth Cook Kinney, Andrea Chase Maxwell, Julie Grimm Kumar (Kingsport, TN) and nephew Josh Grimm (Gate City, VA). David was loved and appreciated by many family members and grandchildren.
Prior to his last days and per his wishes, David accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. AMEN.
