David Waldo Obituary

David William Waldo

August 3, 2025

CHURCH HILL - David William Waldo, 76, of Church Hill, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025, with his loving family by his side.

Born in Kingsport, Dave lived a life full of adventure. In his early years, his father was in the Army and the family traveled extensively moving from assignment to assignment. For 16 years, Dave served in the National Guard with dedication and quiet pride. But his true legacy was found in the way he loved with a heart bigger than words can capture. If someone was in need, Dave was the first to lend a hand and the last to expect anything in return.

Dave was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved his children and was endlessly proud of their accomplishments. To them, he was more than a dad. He was a hero, a teacher, and a safe harbor.

A man of many passions, Dave found joy in the skies as a pilot, building his own Piper Cub and taking to the air whenever he could. He and his wife Kent spent many happy days traveling to various destinations and embracing life's adventures together. He also loved , sailing, golf, hunting and scuba diving.

His warmth extended beyond his home and into his work; alongside his brother Frank, he co-founded TeleOptics, a premier telecommunications company that recently celebrated 40 years of service to the region.

Above all, Dave was a man of deep faith. He loved his Savior, Jesus, and lived a life of humility, compassion, and gentle spirit. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernie and Clara Waldo.

Those left to carry on his legacy include his loving wife, Kent; his children, Jeremiah Waldo (Kim) and Kelley Waldo; grandchildren, Alyson, Noah, Hannah, and James; brothers, Frank Waldo (Rebecca) and Dan Waldo (Sharon); nieces and nephew, Brian Waldo (Tina), and Kristin (Kevin), Cara Waldo; and former wife, Jackie.

Private services will be held for the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Dave's memory to Providence Church (Church Hill, TN) or Appalachian Miles for Smiles.

Dave was truly one of a kind - a man whose faith anchored him, whose joy lifted others, and whose love left an indelible mark on everyone blessed to know him. He will be greatly missed.

Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to serve the family. Online condolences may be shared at www.trinitymemorialcenters.com.

I worked with Dave for many years at United Telephone. He was a great guy. I've hunted with him back when we were both in our twenties. It saddens my heart knowing he's passed. Rest in peace, my friend.
