DeLora Hammond Ward March 31. 1926- May 6, 2024
GATE CITY, VA - DeLora Hammond Ward, 98, Gate City, VA, passed away, Monday, May 6, 2024, at Holston Valley Medical Center.
DeLora was born on March 31, 1926, in Big Stone Gap, VA, to the late William Hammond, and Matilda (Larkins) Hammond.
In addition to her parents, preceding her in death is her husband, Orville Ward.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Joyce Hagmaier (Edwin), Michigan, Brenda Ward, Michigan, Linda Quint, Michigan, Teresa Thomas (Jack), Michigan, Shelby Ward, Gate City, VA, and Sharron Ward, Roanoke, VA; sons, David Ward, Michigan, and Harry Ward, Kingsport, TN; 9 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11-1p.m., Saturday, May11, 2024, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 1:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at the American Legion Cemetery, Big Stone Gap, VA. Eric Quint, Amanda Quint, Sara Thomas, and Nathaniel Ward will serve as pallbearers.
