Delphia Collier Obituary
BIG STONE GAP, VA - Delphia Annette Collier, 74, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023, at her home.
She was born in Pardee, Va., lived in Michigan and North Carolina and then returned to Wise County, Va. She was a school bus driver for the Wise County Public Schools and had previously worked at the former Maloney's Dept. Store in Big Stone Gap. She was of Baptist faith and she sang with a bluegrass gospel quartet for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Rabon Collier; daughters, Angela Dennison Doe and Francesca Bloomer; and three brothers, Dallas Sturgill, Wayne Sturgill and Dean Sturgill.
Surviving are five children, Tina Dennison, Raymond Collier and Chelsea Slagle (Errictt), all of Big Stone Gap, and Sharon Collier and Victor Collier Jr., Baltimore, Md.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Darrell Sturgill, York, SC and Phillip Dale Sturgill, Denver, NC; sister, Karen Leonard, Big Stone Gap; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm – 7:00pm Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave, W., Big Stone Gap. The service will follow at 7:00pm with Rev. Paul Davis officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Friday at the Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:20am to go in procession to the cemetery.
