KINGSPORT - Dennis Carter, a beloved husband to his wife, father to his children, and proud veteran of the United States Army, passed away on June 29th, 2023, at Park West Hospital in Knoxville, TN. He was 63 years old.
Dennis was born on March 14th, 1960, in Kingsport, TN, to James and Jean Carter. He would later spend much of his youth in Dayton, OH where he attended Kettering Fairmont High School. Later enlisting in the forces, he was stationed in Europe in the 82nd battalion where he also attended French Commando school. There he served until his honorable discharge in 1990, moving with his family to Newport News, Virginia.
A car salesman, Dennis was an avid car enthusiast throughout his life. He also greatly enjoyed professional wrestling, country music, and dancing.
He leaves behind and will be missed by his wife, Terri; his son, Jonathan; his stepson, Ryker; his stepdaughter, Kera; his stepmother, Dorothy; his siblings, Judy, Becky, Vickie, Cindy, Maria, Jimmy, Brian, Billy; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, James (2015); mother, Jean (2023); and sister, Pam (2017).
Dennis' remains will be laid to rest in a military cemetery and given a traditional military service with close friends and family.
