Denver Ketron Obituary
January 5, 2025
Denver C. Ketron, age 98, of Kingsport, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2024 at his residence.
He retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 1986 after 42 years of service. He was also very active in the real estate business for many years and owned and started several businesses in the Indian Springs Area, being the founder of the Indian Springs Optimist Club. He was very active in several charitable organizations in the area, but the closest to his heart was St. Jude's. He had been a member of Deck Valley Baptist Church for several decades, and his hobby was playing bass guitar and singing with several gospel groups around the area.
Denver was preceded in death by his parents: David and Elizabeth Thompson Ketron; his loving wife of 67 years, Helen Lawson Ketron. 4 brothers: Sylvester, Lewis, Albert, and Delaney and 4 sisters: Madge, Tressie, Sue and Lola.
He is survived by his sons: Michael (Sheila) Ketron and David (Joy) Ketron; daughters: Glenda (Malcolm) Shelton and Sandra (Orville) Huff. The joys of his life, his 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
The family would like to say a special Thank you to his caregivers: Jan and Bill Trent and to Gentiva Hospice for their care, love and support they provided Denver.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 with Rev. Malcolm Shelton and Bro. Randall Roller officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 AM on Friday, in the chapel for an 11:00 AM committal service. Burial to be in East Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are requested to St. Jude’s' Children's Hospital.

Denver Clarence, I used to sing to him every time I was see him. "Denver had a bulldog and he loved it like a brother, late at night when the lights were out they'd slobber on one another." I can see his grin in my minds eye and loved to see him. Later we would see each other at the Manville fish fry. My prayer is that God gives the family peace and comfort during this time, you've lost a wonderful human.
