February 28, 2025
KINGSPORT - Diane Soltess Ball, 77, of Kingsport, departed this life into the arms of Jesus on Friday, February 28, 2025 at Johnson City Medical Center, surrounded by her family holding her hands. She was born May 16, 1947 in Benham, KY and was a graduate of Cumberland High School and University of Kentucky.
Diane worked as a Register Dietitian (RD) for Indian Path Medical Center and Mountain States Health Alliance for over 25 years. She was highly active in the St. Dominic Catholic Church, Rosary Group, Martha and Mary, RCIA, St. James Society and singing in the 5:30 Mass Choir. Diane was also an active member of Greater Kingsport Republican Women.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Michael Augusta and Helen Palko Soltess; and a brother, Thomas Michael Soltess.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel (Dan) Ball; sons, Daniel Ball II (Diana), David Ball, Michael Ball and Fred Ball (Sara); nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Cathy Sweazy (Ed), Joanne Monhollen, Mary Kaye Stallard (Doug); brother, Joe Soltess; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church, with a rosary service beginning at 3:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be conducted at 4:00 p.m.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Mountain Home National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request memorial contributions be made to Margaret B. Mitchell Spay Neuter Clinic, 16222 Lee Hwy., Bristol, VA 24202.

So sorry to hear of Diane´s passing-Diane was a wonderful person -even though I didn´t know her well I got a chance to talk and be with her some - she is definitely a angel in heaven now -prayers for her and family .God´s blessings to you all.

My memories or Diane were based in our employment at Indian Path, and later at St. Dominic's. She was always the sweetest person and I feel fortunate to have known her.
