KINGSPORT - Don K. Kinser, age 90, of Kingsport, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Cookeville Regional Hospital after a brief illness. He was born August 18, 1932, in Harlan, Kentucky. After graduating from Harlan County High School, Don served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked with National Life and Accident/American General Insurance Company where he retired. Don and Ina have been members of Sunnyside Baptist church for 50 years, where he enjoyed serving and cherished many friendships. Don was strong in his faith and loved the Lord and was ready to spend eternity in Heaven.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert and Vinia Kinser; brothers Paul Kinser, John Kinser, Rev. James Kinser, and sister Mary Kinser Beaver. He is survived by his loving wife Ina Grace Kinser and sons, Donnie (Amy) Kinser of Tullahoma, and Ron (Jenny) Kinser of Sparta; also, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 29 at East Lawn Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Sims of Sunnyside Baptist Church officiating. A graveside service with Military Honors will follow the funeral service, around 3:00 pm, also at East Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:00 pm on Thursday prior to the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: International Fellowship of Christians and Jews and/or Gideon Bibles in Don's honor. Arrangements by East Lawn Funeral Home in Kingsport.
