Donald G. Cox
KINGSPORT - Donald G. Cox 79, of Kingsport stepped off onto Heaven's shore at 11:20 pm on Sunday, October 29, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born on November 4, 1943, in Kingsport to the late Erbie and Virginia Cox. Don was a graduate of Dobyns Bennett High School and retired from Tennessee Eastman after 30 years of service. He was a devoted member of Bays Mountain Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. Don was a loving husband, father, and pappy who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Dorothy Cox; son, Gregory L. Cox and wife Michele; daughter, Melinda A. Cox; son, Joshua G. Cox and wife, Janelle; grandchildren, Andrew and wife Brittany, Matthew, Lindsey Cox, and Courtney Maness; two great- grandchildren, Emerson and Ellison Cox; half-sister, Bobbie Jo Spoden; along with a host of friends and extended family.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 am on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Tim Nelson and Pastor Wayne Baker officiating. Pallbearers will be Greg Cox, Josh Cox, Andrew Cox, Matthew Cox, Tooter Call, and James Rhoten. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 am.
