BIG STONE GAP, VA - Donald E. "Don" Gibson, age 66, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. He was born in Wise County, VA on December 3, 1957 to the late Donald C. and Anne Gibson. He retired from Old Dominion Power Company where he worked for 24 years. Don and his wife, Peggy, attended Oak Grove Baptist Church in Big Stone Gap, VA. Don was preceded in death by his parents Donald C. and Anne Gibson; his infant sister, Katherine; his paternal grandparents, Lester and Eva Gibson; and his maternal grandparents, James E. and Mae Stout.
Don is survived by his wife of 31 years, Peggy Gibson; his uncle, Johnny Gibson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friends, and work-family from Old Dominion Power Company whom he loved dearly.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with services following officiated by Ross Kegan. Committal will follow the 1:00 p.m. service at the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap. Pallbearers will be Russ Bartholomew, Cody Ferguson, Jonathan Gibson, Brian Napier, Chucky Napier, Corey Napier, Kevin Napier, and Nick Napier.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church Shoe Box Ministry, 14 E 11th St. N, Big Stone Gap, VA 24219.
