SURGOINSVILLE - Donald Mack Kendrick, 90, of Surgoinsville, TN, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 23, 2023, at 3:30 a.m. surrounded by his family. Don was born in Scott County, VA, and had lived much of his life in Kingsport and Surgoinsville. He worked construction in Kingsport for various companies. Don was a big fan of Ralph Stanley. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Edna Kenrick; stepmother, Kate Jones Kendrick; and brother, Edward.
Don is survived by his wife, Shirley Temple Hensley Kendrick, of the home; three daughters, Susan Stafford, Debbie Arnold, and Anita Nadine Kendrick; two sons, Jeffery (Pete) Kendrick and Mark Richard (Hizzie); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, June Monroe and husband Paul; brother, Fred Kendrick and wife Nell; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow with Bro. Jessee Hartgrove officiating.
Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Scott County.
