Dorothy Henry Obituary

KINGSPORT - Dorothy "Dot" Light Henry, 102, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Tuesday morning July 1, 2025. Born in Kingsport, she was a graduate of Sullivan High School. Dot married Rev. James C. Henry in 1940 and she lived the life of a minister's wife moving to many different locations from Big Stone Gap, VA, to Chattanooga, TN. She was a member of Gray United Methodist Church. She enjoyed people and loved to talk with anyone.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James C. Henry; three brothers, Leroy, Malcolm, and George Light; and one infant sister, Verna Loraine Light.
Dot is survived by her daughter, Anna Sue Watson and husband Hugh; son, Jack Henry and wife Judy; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Gabe Watson and Mike Zeller officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made to an organization of your choice.

I have many fond memories of Dot!! She and Jim served Pactolus for several years. May she Rest in Peace I have no doubt she is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Condolences to all her family.
