KINGSPORT Edna Mae Fletcher, 92, of Kingsport, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Church Hill Healthcare and Rehab Center. Edna was born on August 23, 1931, to the late Daniel and Dellie Light in Beech Creek, TN. She was happily married to her husband, Gary Fletcher, for over thirty years and selflessly cared for him as he fought and ultimately lost his battle with cancer. She was happy spending time and making memories with her family and greatly enjoyed driving with her husband as he traveled the neighboring states. As a homemaker, wife and mother, Edna dedicated her life to caring for those around her. She was a kind, loving and genuine person who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Dellie Light; husband, Gary Lynn Fletcher; sons, Larry Light, Randall Painter, and Rickey Painter; sisters, Hazel Hill, and Betty Jo Light; brothers, Earl Light, Carl Light and Pete light, and grandson, Benjamin Painter.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sisters, Maude Dolen, Bonnie Cox, and Mable Light; grandson, Jason Light (Heather); nieces and caregivers, Teressa Crawford (Pam), Tammy Russell (Rick) and April Quillen (Richard) and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 11:00am at Oak Hill Memorial Park, with Pastor Danny Dolen officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45am.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to The Bridge Home No Kill Animal Rescue 2061 TN-75, Blountville, TN 37617 or to a charity of your choice.
