ROANOKE, VA - Eleanor "Ellie" Johnson Harrell, 90, a former resident of Kingsport, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023, in Roanoke, VA.
She was born April 20, 1933, in Lebanon, VA to the late Charles and Nanny Johnson.
Eleanor graduated from Johnston Memorial Nursing School and retired from Holston Valley Medical Center as an RN.
She was a committed Christian and former member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church.
In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, William Harrell; sister, Elizabeth Brown; brothers, Thomas Johnson, and Bascom Johnson.
Those left to cherish Eleanor's memory are her son, Robert Harrell (Chris); daughter, Laura Harrell Long (Nelson); stepsons, Brett Harrell, and Jerry Harrell; grandson, Zachary Harrell (Jenny); granddaughter, Aimee Harrell; great-grandson, Noah Harrell; sister, Jean Schaffer; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 8, 2023, 12:45-1:45 pm in the Fireside Room at Oak Hill Funeral Home.
The Entombment Service will follow at 2:00 pm in Mausoleum IV at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Dr. Phil Hoskins will officiate. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
