CHURCH HILL - Ellen Annette Burton, age 88, of Church Hill, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Hillview Healthcare Center in Elizabethton.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Annette worked as a bank teller during the 1970s and later as the secretary in the vocational building at Volunteer High School in the 1980s. Annette had a green thumb and a special love for her roses. She cherished time with her family and was known for faithfully baking red velvet cakes to celebrate her son's birthdays.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymond; sisters, Velma Christian and Atha Simpson; brother, Fred Mann; and her parents, Carl and Sally Mann.
Annette is survived by her sons, David Burton (Amee) of Willis, TX, and Christopher Burton (Kim) of Erwin, TN; her grandchildren, Brenden Burton, Mackenzie Burton, Schae Bowman, and Lacy Morie; as well as several special nieces, Debbie Salley, Carol Williams, Janice Dean, and Susan Smith; special nephew, Phillip Christian; and her special friend and neighbor, Mary Ellen Chapman.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Hillview Healthcare Center for the loving care provided to Annette during her sickness.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Mount Carmel. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 AM to go in procession.
