KINGSPORT - Elmer Lee Payne, 73, of Kingsport, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025.

He was born December 3, 1951, in Kingsport, to the late Marion and Lillian Simpson Payne.

Elmer retired from Domtar Kingsport Packaging Mill following forty-six years of service.

He was a committed Christian and member of Higher Ground Baptist Church.

Elmer enjoyed watching television and Sci Fi movies.

In addition to his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Payne.

Those left to cherish Elmer's memory are his wife, Janie Miller Payne; daughter, Lori Holt (Frankie); grandson, Nathaniel Reeves; sisters, Tessa McCarley (Kevin), and Brenda Gillenwater (Larry); brothers, Michael Payne (Sonya), and Eddie Meade (Karen); several nieces and nephews.

The family extends a sincere thank you to Dr. Jerry Miller for his help with Elmer over the past two years and during his final days. Jerry visited Elmer at Hospice House often where he offered comfort and prayers. His visits always brightened Elmer's day. Thank you, Dr. Jerry Miller!

In accordance with Elmer's wishes no services will be scheduled.
