Elmer Gray Pierson July 25, 1944- April 29, 2024
GATE CITY, VA - Elmer Gray Pierson, 79, Gate City, VA, passed away, Monday, April 29, 2024, at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Gray was born in Kingsport, TN, on July 25, 1944, to the late Elmer Gray Pierson and Katherine (Taylor) Pierson.
In addition to his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Charles, and Lucille Lawson; and brother-in-law, Colin Green preceded him in death.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Judith (Lawson) Pierson; daughter, Lisa (Mike) Kincer; son, James (Jan) Pierson; sister, Linda (Larry) Jennings, and Janice Green; sister-in-law, Nancy (Scotty) Perry; brother-in-law, Charles Lawson, Jr., (Diane); grandchildren, Amanda (Gabe) Calton, and Emily (Josh) Egan, Connor Pierson; great grandchildren, Levi Calton, Zeke Calton, Jayden Egan, Anniston Egan, Rayland Egan; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 7:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Coy Butler, and Rev. Gary Elliott officiating. The Quillen Family will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00a.m., Friday, May 3, 2024, at Lawson Cemetery, Fort Blackmore, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:30a.m., for the graveside service.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Eric Ashworth, Jamie Culbertson, Giles Gillespie, Larry Gillespie, Bob Farmer, Pat Vermillion, Larry Jennings, and Scotty Perry will serve as honorary pallbearers.
