Emogene (Jean) Conkin March 14, 1936- May 19, 2024
BLOUNTVILLE - Emogene (Jean) Conkin, of Blountville passed away peacefully at Brookedale Assisted Living, Sunday May 19, 2024. Jean was born in Sullivan County on March 14, 1936. She graduated from Sullivan High School in 1954.
She worked at Kingsport Press for 38 years, never missing a day. She retired in 1998. She loved keeping her grandchildren Brooke, Brad and Kaylin when they were young, taking them to Bays Mountain, Fun Fest, Gatlinburg and Myrtle Beach. She was active with the 55 Club and loved to play Bingo. She most recently attended Celebration Church where she served as a greeter.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Conkin, her parents Nellie and Orllie Fields, sister Velma Bragg, brothers, Dorsey, Clay, and Charles Fields, and Hobe Morelock. Left to cherish her memories are son, Mark Conkin and wife Ginger, grandchildren Brooke Palmer and husband David, Brad Conkin and wife Brandi, Kaylin Hamilton and husband Hunter, great-grandchildren Anneliese, Mackenlie, Reagan, Teagan, Cannon, River and Ember, sister-in-law Betty Fletcher, special friend Ron Williams, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living (Rock Springs), Genitiva Hospice, and friend Sarah Walters for their kind, compassionate, and loving care.

Visitation & Services will be held at East Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park 4997 Memorial Blvd, Kingsport TN 37664 on Tuesday May 21st beginning at 11:00am with the service following at 12:00pm with grave side service immediately after.

My deepest sympathy and condolences to Jean´s family. In my mind I still see her rushing down the aisle between mechanical binding toward folding - always in a hurry but with a smile and a friendly greeting! Rest in peace sweet lady!
