KINGSPORT - Ernest "Ernie" Franklin Miller of Kingsport, Sullivan County, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at the age of 92, surrounded by his loving children.
He was born on May 16, 1931, in Allegany County, Maryland to George Harness Miller and Lillie Mae Miller. He had nine sisters and four brothers, all who have pre-deceased him. He worked at a variety of jobs during his lifetime, beginning at a very young age. Ernie honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955; during the Korean war as a medic; continued that line of work at Johnson City Memorial Hospital and worked in industry at Tennessee Eastman Company and TPI Corporation before finally retiring at the age of 78. He was called to serve the Lord as an ordained preacher, after being saved at the age of 25. He married the love of his life in 1957 and together they lovingly raised their three children. He was a good and honorable man, with a strong faith in God, and unrelenting love and devotion for his family.
Ernie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia "Patsy" Miller on June 21, 2023, and at her funeral spontaneously sang "I'll be home for Christmas" while touching her hand. He knew in his heart that they would be together for Christmas.
He is survived by his son, Tim Miller and wife, Karen; daughters, Marlene McGee, and Tina Moss and husband, Jon; grandsons, Clint McGee and wife, Kim; Brad Miller and wife, Samantha, Cody Coffman, Dylan Miller and Matthew Miller; great-grandchildren, Clara, Audrey and James McGee.
