Everett Lett Obituary

Pastor Everett Clay Lett of the Apostolic Church of the Lord Jesus Christ went to be with the Lord on December 25th at the age of 91. Everett was the last surviving child of Curtis Virgil and Gustauva Jane (Wyrick) Lett. He was one of nine boys - Ken, James, Curtis, Jeff, Ralph, Benny, Ivan, Leon, and a baby sister.

Everett was also preceded in death by his devoted wife Dessie Lee (Neely) Lett and their son Gregory.

Everett is survived by his son Jerome Todd (Roseann) Lett, numerous family members, church family members, friends, and fishing buddies.

Brother Lett was a mentor, shepherd, father figure and guiding light to not only his church family but to all who met him. He was proud to serve in the Army during the Korean war. Brother Lett will be dearly missed; he had a way of making everyone feel special. He would preach about the journey we are all taking and his devotion to the Lord was unwavering. He was known for not only catching fish in all the best local spots, but for his cooking abilities. His fried fish and potato dinners were amazing and while on his fishing trips he was in charge of the sausage gravy! Pastor Lett had an uncanny way of bringing God into every part of his daily life and then passing the word and bible teaching on to others. On a final note, the fish in East Tennessee can breathe a sigh of relief.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Friday, December 29, 2023 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with Bro. Tim Lovell and Bro. Keaton Snyder officiating. Music will be provided by Heather Wallen and Joann Compton and Candice Stout.

A military graveside service will be conducted at Oak Hill Memorial Park on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 1 pm with honors conducted by American Legion Hammond Post #3/265. Pallbearers will be Mike Booker, David Snyder, Darrel Dillard, Danny Wolfe, Joseph Howell, and Jeremiah Gehman. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50.
