Faye Nell Graham Stirewalt

KINGSPORT - Faye Nell Graham Stirewalt, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, 88, of Kingsport went home to be with the Lord on December 27, 2024, following a stroke related decline. Born in Rowan County, North Carolina on August 21, 1936, the oldest daughter of the late John and Mable Graham. She has resided in Kingsport since 1989. She was a graduate of Appalachian State Teachers College with a Bachelor of Science degree. She married Maurice R. Stirewalt on April 13, 1957.

Faye was a gifted schoolteacher and ended her professional career as the Home Economics Agent for Yancey County, NC. While living in Kingsport, during retirement, she worked part-time at Just Because in the Kingsport Mall and later at Wright's Cafeteria. Faye was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed knitting prayer shawls as a part of their Prayer Quilt Ministry.

In addition to her parents and 2 sisters, Faye was preceded in death by her son, Eric Stirewalt.

Faye is survived by her husband of 67 years, Dr. Maurice R. Stirewalt; daughter, Leigh Bergemann (Robert), of Kingsport; son, David Stirewalt of New Hill, NC.; grandchildren, LTC William Huerth (Lisa), Joshua Huerth (Marissa), Anthony Huerth (Tori), Scott Bergemann (step-grandson), Ray Stirewalt and Allen Stirewalt. She was the beloved GGMA to Lochlan, Leyton, Lewis, Owen and Mackenzie Huerth. She is survived by her sister, Vicki Williams (Bob) of Churchville, MD; sister-in-law, Kay Dunkley (Ken) of Hattiesburg, MS; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday January 11, 2025, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. A funeral service will follow at 2:00pm with Rev. Scottie Burkhalter officiating.
