Frances Burton Obituary

ROGERSVILLE - Frances Lea Burton, age 97, passed away Thursday, February 15,

2024, at Ballad Health Holston Valley Medical Center. She was born on

August 5, 1926, and lived her entire life in the Rogersville area enjoying the beauty of East Tennessee. Mrs. Burton was a member of Rogersville First United Methodist Church. Along with her husband Joe, they operated Burton's Gulf station and Grocery store for 35 years where they developed countless friendships and made priceless memories. She was preceded in death by her husband J. Joe Burton, parents, Joe N. and Frankie Hawthorne Lea; sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Ellis Lea; sister, Elizabeth Lea; brother, Joel Neal Lea and many special friends.

Mrs. Burton is survived by her niece, Charlotte Peck of Greensboro, North Carolina.

Graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2024 at Highland Cemetery with Rev. Sheldon Livesay officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rogersville First United Methodist Church, 110 Colonial Road, Rogersville, TN. 37857
