KINGSPORT - Frances Lorraine Cleek Miller of
Kingsport, TN, 92, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus Sunday morning February 1st following a period of declining health. Frances was born on April 19,1933 in
Kingsport, TN to the late Sally Lou Cleek McCann and Robert Dane Cleek. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George Glenn Miller, stepfather Rev. Henry McCann, siblings Otis Cleek, Fred Cleek, Ireates (Benjmon) Fields, J. D. Cleek, Rev. Don McCann all of Kingsport, Carla (Harold) Silva of
Gladwin, MI; and, brothers & sisters-in-law Cleo Cleek of Kingsport, Evonne Miller Tate of Bon Aqua TN, Gerald (Carolyn) Miller of Dandridge, TN, Frank Miller of Dandridge TN and Oliver Miller of
Bristol, VA.
Frances was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who showed her love through wonderful meals, a strong faith, prayers for her family, sewing and gardening. Family was everything to mom, and she stayed active in the lives of all her children and grandchildren until her health deteriorated. After her children were raised, Frances worked as an auditor for Road Runner Markets for a time until the grandchildren arrived. An excellent seamstress, many homes are adorned with a rabbit doll made by Aunt Frankie. She was a Lady Vols' fan through and through and faithful member of the Dolly Parton fan club.
Frances is survived by her children and spouses, Deborah (Grady) Fleenor, Terri (Jeff) Hurd, and George Scott (Tamara); grandchildren Darby Fleenor, Todd (Tammy) Fleenor, Mandy Cox, Alex (Summer) Hurd, Matthew (Amelia) Hurd, and Lanndan (Anna) Miller; great-grandchildren Jarrett Fleenor, Cassity (Thomas) Fillers, Nikki Cox, Grayson Miller, and Peter Hurd (OR do we just say 5 great-grandchildren), brother Jim (Sue) McCann,
Athens, TN; sisters-in-law Carlene Cleek, Kingsport, Mary Ruth Cleek, Gray, Linda McCann, Kingsport, Virginia Miller,
Mt. Morris, IL, Rosemary Miller,
Bristol, VA, and brother-in-law Bill Tate,
Bon Aqua, TN along with many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held Wednesday, February 11th at 11 am in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home,
Kingsport, Tennessee with Rev. Terry Whitson officiating and Jeff Hurd performing the eulogy.
