KINGSPORT - Freda Francis Allen Harber, 83 of Kingsport, departed this life on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.
Freda was born on September 1, 1941, in Benedict, VA, to the late Ed and Clara Halliott Allen. She was a very active member of Gravelly Baptist Church serving in multiple capacities. Freda was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend.
In addition to her parents, Freda was preceded in death by eight siblings.
Left to cherish Freda's memory are her husband of 62 years, Jack B. Harber; sons, Michael Harber (Barbara) and Brian Harber (Jennifer); grandchildren, Zach and Aaron Padilla (Kelcee), and Matthew Rhoten and family; brothers, Wayne Allen and Jerry Lee Allen (Sue); special friend, Joyce Rhoten; special niece, Sheila Tarr; and her wonderful church family and neighbors.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Gravelly Baptist Church, 647 Gravely Rd., Kingsport, TN.
A Celebration of Freda's Life will follow at 5:00 pm with Pastor Terry Bennett and Pastor Stephen Keene officiating.
Freda's ashes will be laid to rest in Miller's Chapel Cemetery, Lee County, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Freda's honor to Gravelly Baptist Church.
The family wishes to thank Freda's caregivers, neighbors, Visiting Angels, Gentiva Hospice, Dr. Solomon, and Dr. Licup for their compassionate care of Freda.
