Gene Hensley Obituary

KINGSPORT - Gene Hensley, 85, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Holston Valley Medical Center.

He was born February 20, 1938, in Kingsport, to the late Harry and Edna Smith Hensley.

Gene was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

He was a committed Christian and member of Vernon Heights Baptist Church.

Gene was a retired mechanic and enjoyed fishing, hunting, UT football, and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Maddox Hensley; infant son; several brothers and sisters.

Those left to cherish Gene's memory are his children, Mike Hensley (Connie) and Paula Paul; grandson, Michael Paul; brother, Jimmy Hensley (Darlene); several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 1:00-2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel or anytime at the home of his daughter, Paula Paul.

A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Brandon Ferron officiating.

Graveside Service will follow at 3:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the CCU medical staff at Holston Valley Medical Center for their compassionate care of Gene.
