George Watford Obituary

KINGSPORT - George W. Watford, Jr., 70, of Kingsport, gave up his fight on Tuesday evening, February 6, 2024 at home after a courageous bout with multiple myeloma. Born in Fort Rucker, AL, he had resided in Kingsport since 2010.

The family would like to thank Amedysis Hospice, especially Diamond; also, Joe Collier, Theresa Hall, Kim Brooks, Marcheta Vicars and Pam Cody.

George was preceded in death by his father, George W. Watford.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Dye Watford, of the home; two sons, Chris Watford and wife Danette of MD and Matt Watford of TX; four grandchildren, Riley, Arianna, Benjamin and Oliver; mother, Marjorie Watford of Kingsport; sister, Betty Kramer and husband, Greg of Kingsport; and special love, his fur baby, "Ms. Chi-Chi."

No formal services will be conducted. George wanted to be cremated and his wife, Phyllis and sons, Matt and Chris, saw it through.
