MOUNT CARMEL - Georgia Napier Oliver, 95 of Mt. Carmel, Tn, passed away Tuesday October 10, 2023, after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Kingsport, the daughter of the late William and Sarah Cross Napier. At an early age her family moved to her grandfather's farm on the A.P. Carter Highway where she grew up and attended school at Hiltons. She was previously employed by Eastman and Hecht's Bakery of Bristol but spent most of her years as a homemaker.
She was a member of Ross Campground United Methodist Church for over 60 years where she served many years as Sunday School teacher, Youth Leader, VBS Director, UMW President, and sang in the church choir.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Carl Oliver, sister, Sandra Odum, Brothers, Billy, James, Raymond, and Lonnie Napier, Nephew Anthony Napier and great nephew Mark Napier.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Oliver (Shelia) and Greg Oliver both of Mt. Carmel, grandson Chris Oliver (Mary) Lawton, OK, great grandchildren, Dexton Oliver, Kira Oliver and Emmett Vogt, Sisters, Beulah Napier and Priscilla Shaffer both of Kingsport, Brothers Willis Napier (Jeanette) of Johnson City, and Danny Napier of Kingsport, Sisters-in-Law, Shirley Napier and Rose Napier both of Kingsport, many nieces, nephews and cousins and special caregiver Kimberly Palmer.
The family will receive friends, Thursday, October 12th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Johnson Arrowwood Funeral Home in Church Hill, with the funeral service to follow with Pastor Richie Hayes Officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted Friday October 13th, at 11:00 A.M. at East Lawn Memorial Park in Kingsport Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Ross Campground United Methodist Church c/o Jane Kincheloe, 107 Ivy Lane, Gray TN 37615.
