Glenn Herbert Bragg, 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 26, 2023. He was born to James Nelson and Glenna Hazel Bragg on May 7, 1934, in Scott County, VA, and later moved to the Tri-City area. Glenn was a charter member of Tri-Cities Baptist Church and carried the official title of "CANDYMAN". He served in the Army from 1956-1958 and retired from Eastman Chemical Company, Polymers Division, after 29 years of service. He also helped his brothers build houses on a part-time basis. Glenn and his wife Mary ministered to inmates through prison ministries for over 20 years.
Glenn was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Doutt Bragg; his parents; four siblings, Jimmy Bragg, Paul Bragg, Beulah Wheelock and Drucella Cox; and grandson, Garrison Glenn Powell.
He is survived by three children; Rebecca Bragg Hicks and fiancé Rick Henderson, Glenda Bragg Powell and husband, Michael, and Brandon Glenn Bragg; five grandchildren, Jacob Hicks and wife, Kristen, Austin Phillips and wife Christen, Jordan Hicks and girlfriend Pam, Melian Phillips, and Carlie Bragg; 3 great-grandchildren and one on the way; one sister, Susie Bragg Cline, and many loving nieces and nephews. Glenn will be missed by all who loved him.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Tri-Cities Baptist Church, Gray, TN, with a visitation from 2:30-3:30 pm, followed by a funeral service officiated by Pastor Mike Laughrun and Roger Barker. The graveside service will be held at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 2630 Hwy. 75, Blountville, TN, in the Garden of Everlasting Life.
Pallbearers will be Jim Cline, Kevin Compton, Mark Bragg, Rock Bragg, Jacob Hicks, Jordan Hicks and Austin Phillips.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Amedisys Hospice and Glenn's wonderful caregivers, Judy Cantwell and Cindy Northern; and a special thank you for all of the assistance from his good friend, Gary Hilton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tri-Cities Baptist Church, 171 Promise Land Drive, Gray, TN 37615, or to a charity of your choice.
