CHURCH HILL - Glenn Jones, of Church Hill, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Johnson City Medical Center. Born in Hawkins County, TN, he proudly served his country in the USMC, The Virginia National Guard and The Tennessee State Guard, where in 2008 he received a Tennessee State accommodation for his service. He was a proud son of the American Revolution. Upon his discharge from the Marines, he went to work at the Kingsport Press. Glenn was passionate about researching his genealogy and during that time he developed a close friendship through that endeavor with Emma Arnott, MaryAnn Cox, and John Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard D. Jones and Eura Johnson Jones; and brother-in-law, Benny Chapman.
Glenn is survived by his sister, Linda Chapman; niece, Carrie Chapman Steele; great-niece, Emily Steele; and several cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. The memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Will Shewey officiating.
