Gloria Powell Obituary
Gloria Powell, age 82, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully in her home on June 8 2024. Gloria was born to Simon Serrano and Pita Serrano in Santa Rosa, New Mexico.
Gloria spent her early childhood in Santa Rosa before moving to Albuquerque. She attended St. Mary's High School in Albuquerque and after graduation worked briefly as a telephone operator before starting her career in banking. She was very well respected in her varied officer positions.
Upon retiring from banking she took a job at the Social Security Administration where she specialized in Spanish speaking applications.
Gloria was very active in the church and was an active member of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rio Rancho where she was part of the Alter and Rosary group.
She is survived by her son Christopher, whom she raised as a single parent following her divorce, her brother Arthur Serrano, and her beloved grandson and granddaughter.
Gloria will be greatly missed and her presence will not be forgotten.
