Hazel M. Dougherty, age 86, was called Home on April 7, 2026. A woman of deep and abiding faith, Hazel was a devoted member of Midway Memorial United Methodist Church. She lived her life as a reflection of her beliefs, loving her family wholeheartedly and extending kindness and friendship to all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Sheila May (Les); her grandson, Nickolas May; her granddaughter, Abbie Lucas (Matt); and a cherished great-grandson, Hayden Cole, who is expected later this month. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Jean Grizzle, along with a host of nieces and nephews and countless dear friends.

Hazel was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Jimmy Dougherty; her precious daughter, Becky Bowman; her father, James Grizzle; mother Beulah Salling Grizzle Shelton and her brother, Lowell Grizzle.

Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery on Saturday, April 11 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Gail Scheffers officiating and Eulogy by Daniel Dougherty. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 AM.

In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959

Having fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith, she was surely welcomed with the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Hazel's life was a testament to faith, love, and devotion, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
