KINGSPORT - Helen Grogg DeFreece, 89, of Kingsport, peacefully left this world for her heavenly home on the morning of December 8, 2023, at her residence.
She graduated from Sullivan High School and retired from Hillside Manor Nursing Home.
Helen was a committed Christian and member of Holy Mountain Baptist Church.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and a friend to many.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence T. DeFreece, Sr.; son, Christopher DeFreece; grandson, Lawrence T. (Larry) DeFreece III; great grandson, Jackson Mathias DeFreece; parents, Sevier and Ida Belle Grogg; brother, Douglas Grogg; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Jimmy Wallen.
Those left to cherish Helen's memory are her sons, Lawrence T. (Tip) DeFreece II (Cindy) and Kelly Joe DeFreece; daughter, Mitzi Oliver (Rick); eleven grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 12, 2023, 4:00-5:45 pm at Holy Mountain Baptist Church, 3121 Ashley Street, Kingsport, TN 37664.
Funeral Service will begin at 6:00 pm with Pastor Jerry Musick, Pastor Tim Price, and Pastor Mike Malone officiating. Music will be provided by the Crawfords.
Graveside Service will be conducted Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 11:00 am at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Defreece was a such a beautiful person to know. I met her when I was a teenager and she gave me great respect and Love. She Loved The Lord and her family deeply. I am sending Love and prayers to Tip Defreece and his entire family.
